Penfolds Bin 389與澳洲第一指標Penfolds Grange完全一樣皆是用Cabernet Sauvignon與Shiraz混合釀造，且兩支酒的創立者皆為Max Schubert，所以Bin 389又有『窮人的Grange』或是『Baby Grange』之稱。

成立於1845年，由來自倫敦的Christopher Rawson Penfolds醫生與妻子Mary，在南澳Adelaide區的Magill蓋下一座石屋，他們以Mary家鄉的所在地名稱Grange為這間屋子命名，並在石屋四周種下他帶過來的葡萄藤枝，原是為了釀造製藥用酒，沒想到受到廣大喜愛，漸漸開啟出售優質葡萄酒的契機，這就是奔富酒廠Penfolds的緣起。今日的Penfolds是澳洲最大的葡萄酒集團，是贏得海外最多獎項的澳洲酒廠，現在每年總產量遠超過100萬箱以上，過去160年來持續穩定的美酒品質，建立起酒廠美名，成為好酒的代名詞。

 

Bin 389是紅酒收藏家眼中的經典款紅酒，使用Cabernet Sauvignon與Shiraz釀造，葡萄取自Penfolds各區葡萄園，釀製後混合，並於美國橡木桶中熟成，其中舊橡木桶包括前一年用來釀造Penfolds Grange的木桶，所以Bin 389又稱做『Baby Grange』，因品質優異且葡萄品種與Grange相同，又有『窮人的Grange』之稱。

 

Bin 389和Bin 707、Bin 128，以及澳洲現在一出廠，就平均要價450美金以上的第一指標酒Penfolds Grange，都是出自傳奇釀酒師Max Schubert之手，是他於50年代不斷實驗出的成果。奔富酒廠Bin 389的黑色莓果香與橡木桶香草氣息表現均衡，結合了Cabernet Sauvignon葡萄的優雅強勁，以及Shiraz葡萄的濃郁果感與辛香料氣息，陳年潛力可輕易達到25年以上！充滿黑色藍莓果醬風味，搭配適宜的辛香料與黑胡椒香味，舊橡木桶隱約的香草氣息完美交織著，口感飽滿多肉，有非常好的均衡性與架構，燻烤味道極為迷人，口感圓滑並以甜美單寧做為結尾。

Bin 389在美國橡木桶中熟成12個月，其中70%為新橡木桶，口中果味豐沛而強烈，富有如葡萄乾布丁般的乾果及烘烤堅果滋味，酒體飽滿、層次複雜，隱約有沙士汽水般甘甜味而不過於肥美，細緻的單寧、均衡的橡木桶味加上潤口的莓果味，形成完美的經典Bin 389風味！

A blend of 51% cabernet sauvignon and 49% shiraz from McLaren Vale and the Barossa. It ripples with cassis, dark chocolate and hints of tar; its texture and structure are exceptional, reflecting Penfolds' savvy in tannin management. 14.5% alc; screw cap.

Very dark. Rich fruit, the oak in the background. Cassis and blackberry. Some declassified Grange and 701 in this year. Some red barrel ferment. Very Cabernet on the palate, fresh refined cassis. There's a really fine tight structure of acid and tannin but filled out with the beautifully juicy fresh fruit. Long. Gago suggests this 2011 should be broached before the 2008 and 2010 vintages. 

 

Wine Spectator：90 points

Firm in texture, with crunchy tannins around a sleek core of currant and red plum flavors, pushing against the grip of the finish. This has depth, but needs time to sort itself out. Best after 2015.

 

 

Created by the legendary Max Schubert (who also brought Grange to the world), Bin 389 is often referred to as 'Poor Man's Grange' or 'Baby Grange', in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. First made in 1960, this was the wine that helped to build Penfolds solid reputation with red wine drinkers. Combining the structure of Cabernet with the richness of Shiraz, Bin 389 also exemplifies Penfolds skill in balancing fruit and oak.
