出身自頂尖勃根地白酒釀造者Verget的莊主Jean Rijckaert,對Chardonnay的特質掌握無人能出其右,後來心醉於勃根地的鄰居Jura侏羅區,這裡的特殊白葡萄品種Savagnin更帶來另一種白酒的深度與廣度。

 

葡萄園位於離勃根地不遠的Jura產區,地塊相當優良,在Jean的巧手之下,釀造出與勃根地Chardonnay平起平坐的佳釀,帶迷人花果香、烤堅果、礦石香、精緻層次與豐美酸度。

Rijckaert是一個家族型的小型酒莊,由來自比利時的Jean與妻子Regine所共同掌管,Jean Rijckaert曾經是勃根地頂尖白酒生產者Verget的共同經營者,釀造出精緻優異的Chardonnay白酒,對這個堪稱全球最優質白葡萄品種有非常豐富的經驗;他1997年後尋找了優良地塊並自行經營,在法國勃根地Beaune伯恩丘以及Maconnais馬貢內區,以及勃根地東邊的Jura株羅區都有葡萄園,是內行人才知道的優質白酒釀造者。

 

Jean的太太Regine專長在管理葡萄園事務,生產成熟度恰當且酸度漂亮的葡萄果實,這對白酒來說實在太重要不過,Jean則將在Verget的多年經驗完全發揮,專精於葡萄酒的釀造與培養,對土地的特性精確掌握,釀出的酒質細膩且帶有地塊味道,風格優雅靈巧,呈現葡萄果實的天然風貌。

 

晚熟的Savagnin是Jura區的最特殊葡萄品種,可以說是當地特色精華,通常被釀成帶點氧化感的白酒,不過因為技術越來越優良,漸漸有許多酒被釀成像是勃根地白酒的非氧化類型,甚至帶些花香,這款Savangin調配了少許Chardonnay,果香純淨豐沛,還有明顯堅果類香氣,酸度明顯而新鮮均衡,油脂般的堅果氣息極微豐富,更會轉化出香草以及焦糖香氣,酒體飽滿多變。

The rare 2008 Cotes du Jura Les Sarres is slightly more expensive than the $25 cut off price, but it is made from 100% Savagnin. Fermented naturally and bottled after 22 months in used oak, it reveals notes of exotic tropical fruits, white corn, wet gravel and sweet, damp foresty, earthy smells. An amazing white with full-bodied power and richness, it would be impossible to guess this wine in a blind tasting. Consume it over the next 5-7 years.

Always released a year after the Chardonnays, the 2003 Cotes du Jura Les Sarres Savagnin (Domaine R. & J. Rijckaert) explodes from the glass with mouth-watering aromas of ginger bread, spices, and dried red fruits. A bold, juicy wine of immense concentration and depth, its rich personality coats the taster’s palate with potpourri, raspberry, white peach, yellow plum, mineral, and pear flavors.

Freshly churned butter, chamomile and quinine notes run along, with a flash of walnut threading through as well, while the core of peach and green melon fruit provides nice balance. Drink now through 2014. 625 cases made.

Creamy, leesy nose. Biscuity in fact, like a packet of lemon-cream biscuits. Then absolutely masses of acidity. Almost shocking. Tight, tight, tight. An eye-watering bite into a granny-smith apple. Needs time to settle down.
